Visit to Croft on Tees
Children recently went on a trip to Croft-on-Tees to complete some work with the river lab project.
The children had the opportunity to go river sampling. They learnt about different habitats found in and around rivers as well as learning some important messages about river water safety such as how to know which way the tide is flowing. The children used nets to find different living things found in a river including different types of minibeasts and fish.
Back on the river bank we used charcoal and pencils to complete some observational drawings. We also identified some of the mini beats we found in the river and completed a mini-beast classification. We discovered we had found, bull-head fish, sea snails, river shrimps and sea worms. We all had a fabulous time outdoors!
