Parking Around School

Parking / Stopping near the school site

We have received a number of complaints from residents regarding parking around school during the mornings and afternoons when children are being dropped off/picked up. We understand that the PCSOs will be monitoring the areas regularly to ensure that cars are not parked illegally or causing an obstruction.

When dropping off/picking up your children, please:

  • keep clear of zig zags, school entrances, dropped kerbs, junctions and residents’ driveways
  • don’t park on pavements in a way which stops pedestrians, disabled users or parents with prams/pushchairs from using the pavement
  • don’t block a road which could prevent emergency vehicle access
  • don’t stop in the middle of the road to drop your child off – this makes it dangerous for children

Parking inconsiderately obstructs the view of other drivers, children and pedestrians, putting them in danger when crossing the road to school.

We speak to the children regularly about road safety and keeping safe when crossing the road.  You can help us to ensure children have a happy and safe journey into school each morning by considering one of the following:

Walking wherever possible

Not only is this a healthy way to get some exercise, but it supports the local community with congestion.  In addition, it is much better for the environment.

Cycling or scooting

We have plenty of spaces to lock a bicycle or scooter inside the school gates.

Car sharing

Does anybody else live near you?  Could you take it in turns to drive in to collect your children to ease the congestion outside the school at key times during the day?

Our children’s safety is our main priority and we appreciate your support in this matter.
