Visit from Darlington Firefighters
Children in Mrs. Blagg’s and Mrs. Howland’s class have recently had a special visitor, Lindsay.
The class had to ask questions to try to work out what Lindsay does for a job. We wondered if she worked with animals or cooked or painted nails.
Then, after asking lots of questions, we discovered that Lindsay works as a firefighter at Darlington Fire Station.
We found out firefighters not only rescue people from houses but they rescue animals that are stuck and also cut people from cars.
The firefighters communicate with other firefighters using a walkie talkie. We also found out that they wear fire resistant clothing, hard shoes and helmets. They have oxygen tanks to help them breathe in a fire.
Lindsay inspired us to become firefighters!
