Religious Visitor
On Thursday 24th June we had a visit from Imran Kotwol who came from the Muslim Learners Service. He did two assemblies for KS2 where he told the children about how the religion began and how the 5 Pillars of Islam are the basis for their worship and beliefs. The children were shown a variety items that Muslims use for their religious practise.
Y4MT then enjoyed a workshop which built on the knowledge they had gained from the assembly. They had the theme of The Mosque. The children learned about the features of a Mosque, they looked in greater detail at the 5 Pillars of Islam, and learned all about the procedure of Wudu. Wudu is the Islamic procedure of cleansing which is an important part of their worship.
Y5VL also participated in a workshop during the afternoon. Their theme was The 5 Pillars and the Qur’an. They again looked at the 5 Pillars in much greater detail. The children then looked at the Muslim religious artefacts and learned about the Qur’an. A great day was had by all!
