Poetry Workshop
Some Y4, Y5 and Y6 children thoroughly enjoyed the poetry workshop online today with Ian Bland. There were many schools from all over the world taking part – even one from Germany and Africa!
The 90-minute workshop began with Ian Bland himself performing some of his favourite poems. The children loved performing the actions too.
Using the template ‘Puzzle Poems’, Ian scaffolded the children into creating their own poem and then they performed them in class.
I slither and slide along the ground.
Some think I’m slimy but that is wrong.
I sometimes bite if I am scared.
I also bite to hunt my prey.
I live in rainforests, deserts and grasslands.
What am I?
Jack, Year 4
I am small and pink.
I have more colours than you think.
We have small but cute feet.
Deep in the ocean is where we will meet.
My body shape is small and round.
What am I?
Maria and Scarlett, Year 4
I have a bed but I do not sleep.
I have a mouth but I do not speak.
I have eyes but I can’t see.
I live for a very long time.
A part of me can be cut but it won’t hurt.
What am I?
Charlotte, Year 5
I can run but never walk.
I make sounds but cannot talk.
I’m blue but it’s not always true.
I can drop off a ledge but not a hedge.
What am I?
Nada and Jace, Year 5
I have got wings and sharp claws.
I’m a creature that always roars.
You can see me on the sea shores.
I’m a creature of fantasy.
I’m not real as you can see.
What am I?
Callum, Year 5
