Outdoor and Adventurous Smile Day
In the last week of the half term, children in Year 3 and 4 took part in a PE ‘Smile Day’ where each year group spent the morning or afternoon learning about outdoor survival skills with Mr Hall (an outdoor specialist coach).
Throughout the session the children learnt many skills, for instance: how to protect themselves when they are outdoors, how to camouflage themselves, how to successfully complete an evacuation drill and how to rescue an injured person if they are in the countryside. Despite the fact that it was a very wet day, all the children gave their best and listened carefully to instructions given. At the end of the day Mr Hall was so impressed he told Mrs Dixon that Firthmoor Primary School was one of the best schools he has ever been in, that the children demonstrated excellent teamwork skills and also showed a great deal of resilience.
What a fantastic day Year 3 and 4 had – well done everyone.
