South Shields Trip

Nursery – Monday 13th July 2026

Rec, Year 1, Year 1 / 2 and Year 2 – Tuesday 14th July 2026

Year 3, Year 3/4, Year 4, Year 5,  Year 5/6, Year 6 – Wednesday 15th July 2026

 

Dear Parents and Carers,
On the above dates our children will be participating in a visit to South Shields Beach.  We will be departing from school at 9am and we will back at Firthmoor Primary School in time for the end of the school day at 3:15pm.

 

The contribution for this visit will be £8.00 to cover the cost of the buses.  Please pay and consent using the online system Arbor as soon as possible – this payment item is “South Shields beach trip”. If you are experiencing any financial difficulties with this then please contact school so that we can offer some support.

You are also welcome to pay £2.50 to cover the cost of an ice cream/lolly for your child. Please pay for this online (Arbor) if you would like you child to have one – please use payment item “Ice Cream”.

 

Children need to wear appropriate clothes for the weather (shorts/tracksuit bottoms and t-shirts (no strappy tops or hot pants).

 

Your child will need a bag containing the following:

 

  • Appropriate protection- sun cream (applied before school then labelled and in their bag for reapplication later)
  • sun hat/cap
  • t-shirt (to cover shoulders throughout the day)
  • rain coat
  • towel

 

If you wish to allow your child to paddle (knee high and supervised), please ensure another change of clothing is provided and a bag for any wet clothes too.

 

Your child is also welcome to bring a bucket and spade (named please).

NB: please note the children will only be allowed into the water if the appropriate flag is flying and we will only be in up to knee height.

 

Packed lunch

 

Children should bring a healthy packed lunch along with a drink of water/juice in a plastic bottle (no fizzy/sports or energy drinks).

 

If your child is in:

 

Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 or in receipt of Free School Meals – school can provide a packed lunch for the trip.  Please either telephone or email the school office (admin@firthmoor.org.uk) before 30th June 2026 to order.
